Before you arrive on campus



  • Review the "Packing Reminders" and go shopping for the items you need

  • Submit a photo for your Boston Conservatory ID cardYour ID will be ready when you arrive!

  • Check back here to find out the required summer reading book.
    The book will be announced after June 17.
    -for first year and transfer undergraduates only

  • If you will need disability accommodations, contact the Wellness Office

  • Finalize your Student Health Insurance Plan. Because Massachusetts law requires that all students have health insurance, all students are automatically enrolled in the school plan. If you decide to waive this, you must waive by August 16 with proof of alternate insurance.
    -The waiver form will be available after June 17.

  • Purchase your Counterpoint Cafe Card optional ($35) to use at the Counterpoint Café in the Student Center. Café cards can be purchased once you arrive on campus, and throughout the school year.  Visit the Counterpoint Café, located in the lower level of 24 The Fenway for more info.

  • Register for MyStudentBody and complete the Essentials Course by August 16th-For first year and transfer undergraduate students only.

  • Read the Orientation Issue of Student Health 101 Student Health 101 is a monthly newsletter provided by Counseling & Wellness with information to help you have a healthy college experience.

  • Although there will be an on campus merchandise sale during the first few days of orientation*, feel free to visit our virtual store
    throughout the summer to order your Boston Conservatory gear.
    -Some merchandise is available online that is not available on campus.

New Student Orientation
"Set Sail!"

August 29
–September 8, 2013


All new students are required to attend Orientation, a week-long program designed to introduce and 'orient' you to The Boston Conservatory. The Orientation Team will introduce you to many valuable resources that will enhance your ability to succeed both academically and personally at The Boston Conservatory. During Orientation, you will:



  • Meet with current students, faculty and staff to learn about the Conservatory's services, programs and policies.

  • Take any necessary placement exams.

  • Audition for fall productions and ensembles.

  • Discuss the requirements of your program and division.

  • Learn about life on campus and in Boston.

  • Meet your fellow students at various social events.

New International Undergraduate and Graduate Students
Thursday, Aug 29:
9 a.m. Move-in
5 p.m. Check-in


New Undergraduate Students
Friday, Aug 30: 
8 a.m. Move-in
8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Check-in at 8 The Fenway (main building)


New Graduate Students
Saturday, Aug 31:
9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Move-in
9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Check-in at The Student Center*
*The Student Center is located in the lower level of 24 The Fenway


Undergraduate Parent/Guest Orientation
Friday, Aug 30 and Saturday, Aug 31**
**Parent/Guest orientation will end around 3:30p.m. on Saturday, August 31, you will have some early evening time with your student.


Undergraduate Orientation
Runs from Friday, August 30 – Sunday, September 8.


Graduate Orientation
Runs from Saturday, August 31 – Sunday, September 8.


Both Undergrad and Graduate Orientations will include mandatory meetings, auditions, placements and exams as well as many social events.  More information on the schedule will be provided throughout the summer.  Final orientation schedules will be posted in August.  Placement exam times will be given out at Orientation check-in.

Our Orientation program is designed to acclimate you to the Conservatory, introduce you to the city of Boston and give you everything you need to get your Boston Conservatory experience off to a great start.  We look forward to seeing you this August!
