Welcome to The Boston Conservatory's Summer Dance 2008. Join us for an international, intergenerational and intercultural experience. If you are an alumnus, welcome home! If you are new, come and explore with us the salient beauty found in the similarities and differences among dance/movement arts.
This intensive program for students (ages 16 and older), teachers and professional dancers features world-class faculty who will inspire and maximize your training. Classes are small to ensure quality teaching and individualized learning.
Summer Dance '08 has two sessions. Students may sign up for either session, or for the full program. Session One is from June 23 to July 11 and Session Two is from July 14 to August 1.
No basic, fundamental classes are offered. Students should have at least one year of serious dance study. On the first day of each session, we have placement classes in ballet, pointe and modern to enroll you in the appropriate level. All technique classes are offered for credit at no extra cost. Student Showcases (excerpts from technique classes) are held on our main stage theater at the end of each session.
As a dancer/anthropologist, I have designed three lecture series. Dance Forums and Dance Dialogues invite artists, critics and writers from the outside community to increase awareness and appreciation of the divergent trends in the movement field utilized in dance. All people have a history, and each Thursday evening, our distinguished faculty presents Faculty Dance Traditions we are what we were . These lecture series allow students to ask questions and encourages discussions with the faculty.
Housing and food service are available. After-class activities are required of 16-17 year old residents and are planned to enhance your education and augment your training.
Summer is a wonderful time to spend unencumbered days devoted to the study of dance, make new friends, and explore Boston . Summer Dance 08 is designed to help you hone your technique, get into shape, gain exposure and experience in other dance styles.
Applications and more detailed information can be found on our website, www.bostonconservatory.edu. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis so register early.

There are so many spectrums of dance and they are al joined simply by spiritual and inspirational themes. I have learned dance as a form of communication with others, ourselves, and our higher spiritual self. Anonymous Student SD 07
