Welcome to the Summer 2008 Vocal/Choral Intensive for high school students at The Boston Conservatory!

Now in its seventh year, the Summer Vocal/Choral Intensive
(VCI) offers serious high school vocalists an opportunity to
have an intensive two week-long immersion in solo and choral singing. VCI ‘08—which runs from July 6 through
July 19 —will feature exposure to a rich variety of solo, opera, musical theater, and choral repertoire. Students will
increase their music reading skills through daily sight
singing and theory classes and strengthen their vocal technique in performances classes, private lessons, and coachings. A series of vocal master classes will be taught by our world-class performing artist Conservatory voice faculty. Our training
program also includes classes in diction, stagework, and yoga for
performing artists.

Located in the Fenway/Back Bay area of Boston and
drawing students from around the country and throughout
the world, the Summer Vocal/Choral Intensive also offers
a rich cultural experience. In addition to participating in
planned activities—which in past years included a performance
of Blue Man Group, a trip to North Shore Music Theater, and a Boston Harbor sunset cruise—students are encouraged to take advantage of the many attractions in and around Boston. Through participation in VCI, students can experience all the benefits of studying at a small private
college in Boston. Such cultural opportunities provide an
experience that can only inspire and stimulate students’
musical imaginations.
