Welcome Parents and Families!

Parent and family involvement is a critical part of the positive experience students have during their time at The Boston Conservatory. Through the Parents Association, you can support your students and The Boston Conservatory through various activities and student outreach.

During my time as a student I served as Resident Director, and was fortunate to meet and come to know many recent parents (some of whom have assumed the role of Alumni Parents). So I now look forward to getting to know all of you parents and families. Please share your ideas and comments with me throughout the year, and stop in to say hello if you're in the neighborhood—my office is located in Room 200 on the second floor of 8 The Fenway.

There are several ways that you can stay connected with The Boston Conservatory throughout the year:

• Mark your calendars for Family and Friends Weekend 2008: Friday, October 24 through Sunday, October 26.
  Family and friends are invited to join us for a fun and exciting weekend at The Boston Conservatory.  It's a time for family and friends to experience a student's life at the Conservatory. Weekend Highlights:
  Welcome Reception
  Fall Mainstage Theater Production
  Parents Association Sessions
  A Variety of Musical Concerts
  The Conservatory Cabaret
  Farewell Brunch

• Keep your contact information up to date—call, write or email me if you have recently moved or have not received anything from the Conservatory in a while.
• Attending a performance or an event at the Conservatory.
• If you live in New England and can attend performances regularly, sign up for “This Week at the Conservatory,” a weekly email message sent during the school year with information about what's up on stage each week (and invite other family members to sign up too!).
• Posting to the Yahoo! Groups page where you can connect with other parents and share what is happening with your students (click on the link “sign-up for Yahoo! Groups”).
• Put a “Boston Conservatory” bumper sticker on your car or purchase a tee shirt with our logo from our online store.
• Offer to give (or attend) a Master Class.
• Assist me with our “Welcome to the Alumni Association” event for graduating students held in May 2008.
• Make a contribution to the Parent Fund.
• Host or attend a Regional Event in your area.
• Promote the Conservatory at Regional Auditions or at Accepted Student receptions.
• Share your interesting ideas with me.
• Staying in town while visiting you student? Check out these hotel discounts.
