MERIT BASED

Conservatory Talent Scholarships
Range: $2000 to Full Tuition
Who may apply: Everyone
How to apply: Complete the Boston Conservatory Application for Admission.


A limited number of performance-based scholarships are available to students who demonstrate the highest artistic skills. A student's financial need may be taken into consideration if the student fills out the FAFSA. However, the primary consideration will always be merit. The Conservatory does not offer need-based institutional grants.

The scholarship is renewed if the student remains full time and makes Satisfactory Progress for Scholarships (under Financial Aid>Policies and Regulations).

NEED BASED

Pell Grants
Range:
$890 to $4731
Who may apply: Undergraduates who are US citizens or Eligible Non-citizens

This is a federally funded program that is based exclusively on financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.


Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants
Range:
$400 to $4000
Who may apply: Undergraduates who are US citizens or Eligible Non-citizens

This program is also a federally funded program and is available only to a limited number of students. By federal regulation, first preference must be given to those who also receive a Pell Grant.

Federal Work-Study
Range:
$1000 to $2500
Who may apply: Undergraduates and Graduates who are U.S. citizens or Eligible Non-citizens

On-campus work is available to students who need money for incidental expenses. Earnings are paid directly to the student on a bi-weekly basis.

Conservatory Employment
Range: $1000 to $2000

Federal Subsidized Stafford Loans
Range: up to $5500 for Undergraduates
up to $8500 for Graduates

Repayment of this loan may be deferred until 6 months after the student has graduated or terminated attendance. Effective 7/1/06, the interest rate is fixed at 6.8% and interest does not begin to accrue until the repayment period begins.

Maximum borrowing limits are as follows:

NON-NEED BASED

Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loans
Range: up to $5000 for Undergraduates
up to $10000 for Graduates

Repayment of this loan may be deferred until 6 months after the student has graduated or terminated attendance. Effective 7/1/06, the interest rate is fixed at 6.8%. Interest begins to accrue as soon as the loan is disbursed.

Dependent students who are ineligible for the Subsidized Stafford Loan may receive the Unsubsidized Stafford Loan in the amount slisted above.

Independent students or dependent students whose parents have been denied the PLUS Loan may obtain an Unsubsidized Stafford Loan in the following amounts (minus any Subsidized Stafford Loan):

Federal PLUS Loans
Range: up to full cost of attendance, less other financial aid
Who may apply: Parents or legal guardians of Dependent Undergraduates who are US citizens or Eligible Non-citizens

These are parent loans to dependent students. Effective 7/1/06, the interest rate is fixed at 8.5% and repayment begins 60 days after the second disbursement of the loan.

Federal Grad PLUS Loans
Range: Up to full cost of attendance, less other financial aid.
Who may apply: Gradaate students who are US citizens or Eligible non-citizens

These are loans to graduate students. Effective 7/1/06, the interest rate is fixed at 8.5% and repayment begins 60 days after the second disbursement of the loan.

Conservatory Poirier Loans
Range: $4000
Who may apply: Undergraduates & Graduates who are US citizens or Eligible Non-citizens
How to apply: Request information and an application form from the Conservatory Financial Aid Office

The Poirier Loan is available to students who have exhausted all other forms of financial aid and loans. The amount is fixed at $4,000 and the rate at 7%, with a cumulative limit of $12,000. Credit checks and a co-signer are required. Repayment begins 30 days after graduation or termination of attendance.
